Conscience Quest Nosedives As NBC Cancels Older Folks’ HARRY’S LAW

May 14, 2012 & November 24 - December 8, 2015 Below - ......

David E. Kelley‘s NBC legal drama Harry’s Law is canceled.
See Wikipedia for ratings history.

NBC executives told the Associated Press as reported in The Press-Enterprise and Cincinnati.com that the show did not draw young viewers. In the sport of television that’s what’s known as too serious. Previous successes Picket FencesAlly McBealThe Practice, and Boston Legal had funny bones while this show, Harry’s Law, apparently did not.
As demographics are all that matters, a moment should be taken to praise why this show’s failure was so worth it. With one episode left in the season Sunday night after the ax the show seemed as it always had. As if producers from the start knew what was in the wind. I watched last year thinking the show wouldn’t be around long but was certainly an attempt to do some good once again. Cut from the same mold as Kelly’s younger successes of polished legalese dissecting issues in speeches otherwise normal successful television mysteries don’t have enough time for as in their hour its sometimes important to dramatize the complete car chase.
Reviewing backward from Sunday night’s typical climactic drama, of guns in a courtroom and fighting a hospital regulation/law that implies homosexual blood is already tainted without containing a disease. All the episodes were already nostalgic with either the lawyers in a bar or lovers on doorsteps lamenting the days that had gone past. The good old ones when dramatically reminding the public was so worth the act.

  Encore, encore.

Nov. 24 - Dec. 8, 2015

The violence in San Bernardino, California personified hatred's madness. The psychosis of it all. The attackers' family stated they hadn't a clue of this potential so that's how things stand. Hidden is how contrived scapegoating festers the worst human selfishness. An expert(s) noted the husband possibly resented the wall his career-less bursted dreams had hit. Sad. Hardly anyone gets to be rocket scientists, but still with all our advancements life isn't enough fun for everyone. So pleasure's gotten from the most ridiculous sources imaginable. Resentment's deep. Our pampered so spoiled, everyone's capable of thoughtlessness. The dark trough of despair the atrocity highlighted only magnifies the broader delusions. Peace. 12/3
Military solutions are problems so another generation bites the dust?

Cancel an old folks' showWhat were the odds NBC hadn't already known the age-group numbers before HARRY'S LAW launched? NBC's in the same business as Leslie Moonves who eats statistics for lunch. Gaining market leverage was considered possible from Kathy Bates' eccentric down-home gun handling but old folks were always the excuse better numbers weren't produced. Selling television. The more things change the more they stay the same?

The corporation's logic was most likely that writer/producer Kelley's dependably Seinfeldianish quirky twists could tweak followers as well as everyone else's snappy stuff. But far be it from me to criticize our culture's generally pervasive abundant sarcasm that's seemed to mean how people really skeptically think. Though stuck on subjects in ruts of belief of unquestioning sycophantic devotion isn't skepticism. Where winning means everything as opposed to the merits of what's both right and wrong. Hypocrisy.

Where would we be without women lawyers? Recently at the polls I wrote in Ruth Bader Ginsburg for Queens County District Attorney.
Harry's Law? Sexism's a sorry tradition.

The Politics of Sunday Morning Television

Soothing voiced political consultant provides editorial positions describing team leaders as individually smart, dapper and qualified to sign checks. Straighten your tie.

But that's some plot line going on Madame Secretary, 11/29/2015. No mere capturing of America's heart with outrageously contagious gossip. Yet I neared the conclusion reality was being stretched too far. But it's just television and incredible what that show's been able to express. I am in awe and you can bet your bottom dollar no check's in the mail. Captured my imagination fair and square. Although, full disclosure, my wife was and is a Téa Leoni fan.
Yeah weave in, around, over and through. Bend looking for how conjecture's muddled. What's a brain's narration to do with interior dialogue contrived to conform? Sycophantism's nap time. Some boat we're all in together so full of holes filled with spiteful intent. Law enforcement still not unhinged from its bitter authoritarian past to benign supervisory capacity that much of this world's laws claim. The failure for which the police are hardly to blame for the game's Follow The Money. About which humanity's only partly evolved. But by all means let's disintegrate over this preposterousness, enforced morality. A disease that's more than self-evident. Righteousness is a lot more benevolent than all the b_______ going on around here. If well-paid hypocrisy is the way this all goes down then - so be it.
Criminal Enterprise System walks into a bar. Bartender says, "None of that Criminal Enterprise System here." So the Criminal Enterprise System eyes the bartender coldly. Letting loose with that offensive wail, Criminal Enterprise SystemCriminal Enterprise System asks for a drink, telling the tender an institution can't be turned down. Criminal Enterprise System is a Criminal Enterprise System is a Criminal Enterprise System.
Aw. Cryptic. Yeah well I remember growing old enjoying some of Harry's Law. Comforting the public may feed the bottom line. But pacified has undermined the nature of independence except as code for purer patriotism. Bandwagon fever. Hip's the next hit.
"Have a seat, Mr. Kelley. Can I interest you in an Ed Begley, Jr. vehicle? Naw? Can't believe there could ever be enough Ed Begley. Anyway. At least I offered. What if Condoleezza Rice were available? We possibly both grinned hype and a nickel buys everything anymore. Everything susceptible to being bought out from under. The law of property replaced by the law of righter property. A conundrum of epic proportions too big to fail.
"Snoozing on me Mr. Kelley. Oh.
"Maybe I bring an eccentric long-view. Your profitable successes rely on focus just as my points depend on people reading what they tried not to hear. Or rather not realize. Think better of if just disappeared. Without realizing answers are only questions.
"Who would be comfortable with the concept of demolishing the great political economic divide because that sounds nowhere near realistic? Imagine everyone could be thrown off by my basing solving the economy on ending inflation? Since as inflation still stands, its just a financial instrument suited to surfing that grounds the bottom half under. Sure the disintegrating middle class is a problem but still more smoke and mirrors when considering the problem's just a matter of complete circulation. People supposedly slighted by not receiving raises that've yet to make a real difference for anyone other than those actually surfing inflation. NEVER CATCHING UP is realistic? It is too relatively simple to pretend inflation shouldn't be solved. This handle on money that's no handle at all.  With compete circulation what the hell difference does it make when the lives of the prosperous aren't solved? What's unrealistic is to think either political economic view's not consumed by market share and whatever the public's willing to swallow or convinced to accept.
"Mr Kelley? So who do ya think has the inside track on The Big Short for television? All In The Family II. Hey Gloria Steinem! Still male-centric, huh?
"TV? A sacrament for a few generations. A modern marvel. Double-edged sword. ...

Boston Criminal Boss James (Whitey) Bulger’s Common-Law Spouse, Catherine E. Greig, Sentenced To Eight Years

Often those needing sympathy don’t seem to deserve it.
Sixteen years on the lam with alleged ruthless killer Whitey Bulger and described by her lawyer, Kevin Reddington, as having a loving personality might be a tad incongruous for, now convicted, Catherine Greig. But not so much in our legal system that a judge can’t hear with a straight face a defense attorney’s straight face that friends stand by her who haven’t seen her in years.
As reported by The New York Times, Ms. Greig’s lawyer asked in a, filed Monday, memorandum that she be sentenced to 27 months, using literature to support his repeated line that Ms. Greig’s crime was falling in love. “Why people fall in love has been debated since before Shakespeare’s sonnets.” Jack Pirozzolo, a government lawyer, questioned that logic in court, saying, “This isn’t poetry. This is a woman who, by choice, decided to help a man who has been accused of vicious crimes.”
A summary of Mr. Bulger’s criminal career and fugitive life can (used to) be seen at the America’s Most Wanted website, as well as an ABC News recap of how the FBI advertised to women, on afternoon television programming, because they might have seen Catherine in beauty parlors. The effort to find Ms. Greig to flush out Whitey happened within an astonishing forty-eight hours since they’d been missing sixteen years until then.
Still, no matter how pampered by money she’d been most of her life, used has to only be the half of Ms. Greig’s experience as Mr. Bulger’s criminal career seemed based on carrying out threats on virtually everyone whoever met him, including most likely, allegedly, the FBI. Another sad tragedy of our ruthless world that she wasn’t rescued before.

Another sad tragedy of our ruthless world that she wasn’t rescued before.
_________________________________________________________

People need "miracles" so the future stops inheriting our crime riddled past? For Catherine Greig, once drawn in the orbitthere wasn't a break except years on the lam with Whitey. Make no mistake. Whitey Bulger was a ruthlessly opportunist criminal mastermind for which the makeup of "the streetsis blamed. The excuse is economically tortured levels of life, whose disputes with authority are labelled complete lawlessness are the whims of the State's own opportunists perpetuating socially flawed law. Criminal Intent? Once again, Whitey was no genius. But meant from a baby for a thoroughly mean streak? Possibly. But he probably, couldn't have ever invented the Criminal Enterprise System itself, himself, without vast amounts of fellow colluders living marginally criminal public lives. Because a game where we're our own nemesis-es, has-to-go. Law Enforcement is our police, the public's, not military states'.
Crime is so vast? But what morality should face and stop pretending otherwise, is judgement's a vaguely subjectively understood capacity of vast sources of view. The most preposterous moral failure humans have is reducing religion to competitive nonsense when there's only one God/Allah just as we're all one creation of The Creator. Because what's happened through our own vanity claiming Allah/God influences holy war (justifiable revenge) is complete balderdash. Hysterically kept in preponderant place by rationalities that deem our free judgement as reason enough to blame anyone else but ourselves for our mistakes.
Our own human miracles could form if people understood our depths were lowered criminalizing virtually everyone. Something else the country's waiting on Congress no to do? Well. Certainly the details entail nuance. But Civilization's still enduring the remnants of feudalism's nightmarish principalities' monopolistic resistance to legitimate competition within their empires. Justice? The word's so entwined with revenge, the pursuit's just excuses for politicians to toss out to sycophants to chew at the games. Prisons and jails have a purpose, yes. But there's something to the fantasist's persuasion fathoming confinement should actually be more like actual Country Clubs for every prisoner instead of a petri dish of stirred punishing resentment. Some get their minds straight there. But the operative words to remember about even a sparklingly pleasant environment is it's still jail or prison.  Locked up is not feeling free. And where they live's not accomplishing its goal by being just another in a long string of broken homes.
Instead? Really work for a living? The compromises felons made that dropped them into irresponsible lives should be regretted. But the justice system's a method for handling crime. Solving cases, not solving crime. Crime is a social phenomenon overwhelmed by the competitively played game, Criminal Enterprise System. Broken America's what we have by judging Americans who never should have been cornered into becoming criminals. Prohibition, the mistake that keeps giving. Watch the TV Police Drama, Blue Bloods idolization of alcohol right there on the screen. Morality? The American Culture may have a clue a huge boondoggle spread misery few could afford besides authoritarians as the DEA reaffirmed? As with Whitey Bulger and the vast network of bureaucracy handling America's Criminal Enterprise System. Some of this handling criminals is directly about the Criminal Enterprise System needing a fix. Why not solve crime civilized?
Criminals to the left of us and crime to the right is an inundation of criminality. Moral rectitude's line walked over, stepped on, and smudged into incoherence as the Criminal Enterprise System rolls over the innocent population who're told we're victims of symptoms that're really structural defects. Change the law? When law's been sat on to such overweight effect. As if the whole modern-day planet's confusions are easily traced back through tyrants such as Henry the Eighth. While modernity's just made crime more conveniently gotten away with. So law's last option is force though ending crime is more important than punishing criminals. Why bleeding heart liberalism's more than just political toys
Uh huh, WikileaksWiki. Where should Americans stand on individuals belligerence toward authority? Obviously, first and foremost, behind free speech. Because everyone knows crime's the cover-up and public's vast coax-ability by simple message is futile charades. Soapbox View
Speaking of bargaining political power. This university class' half-hour documentary
is about a town
that became a Central Florida neighborhood. One lesson of history is winners are ruthless, though that's proven never completely smart.
Also revealing is criticism of Sapolio Soap's jingoistic slant in the Filthy State Clean State Spotless Town campaign. The ad's cited in Scientific Authority & Twentieth-century America, edited by Ronald G. Walters. Advertising blemishTch, tch? Now we're talking the way politicians mention talking about issues by just referring to them. Or that's all the media's fault? Facing the truth's disturbing, but cool. JK Fraser was a relative kid when credited inventing Spotless TownArtemus Ward owned the shop.
Or rather, Enoch Morgan's Sons Co.

  Fairly bright?
The Extravaganza's Rhetoric
Of Course Criminal Intent's Bad

August 2nd, New York City Police Commissioner Bill Bratton announced his end of August resignation. Initially, Commissioner Bratton's lukewarm acceptance of modifying the militarizing of American Police through his community policing, meant his resignation could have been about getting out from under Mayor de Blasio's thumb. Where released from the post's obligations he'd be free as former Mayor Giuliani is to pronounce from a marketable pedestal that only they see how morality should be enforced and Criminal Enterprise System reformed. In a country dedicated to a people's freedom as individuals. Maybe the Commissioner'll get to play quarterback for Rudy's team until his own publicity threatens Giuliani's figurehead status in the pyramid scheme's hierarchy again as the media reported supposedly happened when they were both in office together.
If things happened as I preferred? William Bratton would have remained New York City Police Commissioner and grown with the hoped for civilized change. Heaven knows there's been enough chest-thumping from the public stage to have lasted lifetimes. There's always change.
And, for good measureanother Criminal Enterprise System mention as politicians do claiming to "talk about" issues from their pedestals. Try counting the times that happens in the next US Presidential debate? But don't hold your breaths for sycophantic coverage of that. Though news maven Charlie Rose, August 3rd, personally (scooped) uncovered Commissioner Bratton's resignation was for more money. All the best.

SMOOTH MOVE SHERLOCK?

The best mysteries are Holmesian I thought reaching the top of the stairs when the strangely painted door opened I entered anyway. Intrigued by what the letter said to "be on time and enter anyway." As with most things if it wasn't about money why bother. Lawyers and all that. But for money you bug yourself.

I'd ridden the thirty miles from the airport arriving two hours after sunriseThen walked around this side of the lake. The same story all over the country. Hometown downtowns shrunk or dissolved. Essentially unable to access the successful gravy train known as the "local mall" that's become dislodged by delivery folks who'll soon enough be outbid by drones. Just when society figured out more ways to get at least this close to paying ourselves, the rug's still technically, officially, completely pulled out from under the rest of us? Mortgage sabotage framed large the story and excuse. While nothing's ever on the shelves that's not already accounted for. Hooray.

Not an actual office, the room felt suspicious. The lawyer's name "Yurmony" sounding like one to believe. He said, "Watching earlier confirmed" I was "still just 'day dreaming.'"

Useless aside, "This isn't an office," I said, "What's going on?"

Yurmony? "Yeah. Going on. About that."

Hardly good. A lawyer hedging. Prepping. Warming both of us up. The legal process feeling ruthlessly cold again and not the guardian of liberty hoped of her. The law. If there were anything better the goal of the law is to become that. How could I be in trouble for pointing out the obvious? Nicknaming aspects of the legal apparatus the Criminal Enterprise System isn't seditious. In fact patriotic Americans voice unpopular expressions especially when emphasis on that particular point changes the dynamics and lethargy that dominate the ideal of what the police mean in the United States. How come they see themselves as separate from other Americans? An occupying force? When we all need the Criminal Enterprise System reformed that's in the hands of the people's legislatures bless their souls.

The lawyer stared at me with that where's your mind at look, focus on him. Except he hadn't said anything while I'd at least rehearsed defending speech.

Finally Yurmony said, "Investigations turn up ghosts."

"Yeah?" I said, "History's how none of us are saints. Did you catch The New York Times essay Our Vietnam War Never Ended by USC professor Viet Thanh Nguyen? An objective America would want all points of view understood without all the reactionary jingoism that's given symbolic American license to overzealous nationalistic exploitation all over the world."

"See," Yurmony said. "Cryptic. The picture's complicated and people don't understand your meaning so you're just a trouble-maker. Not even soapbox tool."

"Patently absurd," I responded.

"But not far-fetched" he gleamed. Squeaking, "The satire's clues. PatternsRepetitions. IncitementsMmm. Wonder how much different opinion of you is than yours of yourself?"

"Submit my file." ...

Well honky dory. Not that news wasn't always advertising. But there was some discomfort with the façade.
While people are told aliens are from other countries when The Soapbox View wonders how do so many aliens get to the planet? The Soapbox View is that the traditions treating others as alien are unnecessary tradition. Back in February Rolling Stone also had an essay conjecturing on some foresight necessary for dismantling the Criminal Enterprise System? Americans deserve better than simplistic, exploitive demonstrations of patriotism. We should want Cuba's evolution as well as our own. I distrust all leaders' compromises. Just as all Bolsheviks had the potential to act as tyrannically as Stalin did, Castro's bubble wasn't created by himself all alone. Development will win and if there's enough money left from organized corruption Cuba will either be the most completely asphalted island in the world or transportation paradise. Right. They don't have the money. It's all what we decide. Would fly from Orlando if los Castro asked me to tea.

The Soapbox View I appreciate Ms. Clinton being in this election, very much. Being unhappy with the last dynasty, I still feel she should be commended for doing what she practically has to, to get things done by a woman. Not that I wouldn't expect the same mistakes from a man. But there is more of the responsibility as a woman imbedded in this campaign than just her personal satisfaction. She didn't have to run. One thing she's shown is respect for responsibility. While this Republican has had enough

The business of political campaigning can absorb another voice aiming for a sliver of political edge?

THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE Belongs Back In
If slavery is not a part of Honoring The Confederate States by flying that flag, then flaunting the reality the two can't be separated is revengefully insulting and perhaps right that that flag flies so everyone knows where patriotism’s perverted following something that's disgusting to believe. Racist arrogance was always wrong. Elitist-ism was and always will be wrong. Honor humanity lowering that flag.
Pride in the flag might also mean not letting it be divisive. Since racism hasn't ended over centuries this isn’t just about that dag gum Civil War or flag. DENIAL'S AS DAMAGING AS RACISM

A few people live in the resplendent suburbs of Detroit and people feel the car did more for us than it took away. The asphalt transportation system was subsidized. Can Anyone Buy A Clue?
The entire system should have been properly upgraded and subsidized as was the traffic system which always claims to have ACCIDENTS every day. ALL THESE TRAGEDIES ARE MISTAKES. Not accidents. We need to get out of this financial insurance juggernaut that continues life as a series of gambles WHEN WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE SMARTER THAN THIS.
TRAFFIC Condolences. In the broader picture people take too much for granted and go too fast accepting a certain level of risk that stretches what's cautionary leading to what's called accidents but are really mistakes.
The Soapbox View is we built paradise without figuring out how to fit everyone in because blaming the economists was and still is such a lucrative political sport?
The Soapbox View Except for three weeks in Florida twenty-four years ago, I haven't pumped my own gas in thirty-four years. Pity apparently bicyclists aren't eligible to be presidents of the United States? Yet people wonder why? Why doesn't the biggest industry in the world participate in the future of energy, piddling around disputing with this concept that maybe the earth's not been destroyed enough? So the petal to the metal means where a candidate sits in relation to keeping American minds on the steering wheel? Presumably?
The Soapbox View In Detroit's Memory.
If cyclists on trails works as a direct route? Absolutely, as a cyclist I think that's right. But bikes go where they need to go and not where they're told. Whenever the issue is bikes are in the way the issue is molded to reflect the automobile's primacy which is the very reason it's such a b____ when the infrastructure needs fixed. We need to get out of this financial insurance juggernaut that continues life as a series of gambles WHEN WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE SMARTER THAN THIS.
The Soapbox View To the Train.  We're either proving we're smarter than what's not functioned properly or we aren't. TRANSITION WHO CAN'T AFFORD? Transportation molded to reflect the automobile's primacy is the very reason the infrastructure needs fixing. Traffic lanes up the ying-yang incessantly clogged. Why doesn't the biggest industry in the world participate in the future of energy? Piddling around disputing with this concept that maybe the earth's not been damaged enough? While being realistic is keeping the public's minds and consciousnesses on the steering wheel? So, in conclusion:
Those Star Trek transporter gizmos can't get here fast enough, huh? While William Shatner trying the first would prove how smart we are. The advancement of the Transportation Enterprise System wouldn't prove anything? ECONOMISTS' BOXES FOR EVERYONE! Corruption's as legal as it needs to be. Perfect time to not beat around the bush anymore. Expendable pawns useless to the machine. Not what we've become but always were. Capitalism functioning properly would have no problem applying socialism where warranted. End The Hypocrisy! In the broader picture? Chasing inflation never solved increasing inflation. Why aren’t economists smarter than this relentless make-believe-game of catch-up? Remember the deceased name in America, Woolworth's? The Five and Dime. New York City’s Woolworth Building on Broadway was built by the public's nickels and dimes commemorating capitalism's strengths.
Then civilization gradually woke up to every child’s only seeing the value of paper money and everything went digitally berserk. Why not a $15 minimum wage and more? Evidence is it won’t work any better than $5 or $10 ever did. End inflation or the madness never will.
